Gwendraeth Valley Paddlers, also known as GVP, is a Kayak and Canoe Club based in Carmarthen.
The club was formed as a result of a Starter Course organised by Steve Pugh- Jones within Maes- yr -Yrfa School, Cefneithin and developed into wider activity as membership grew.
The club's home waters are within the Carmarthen Bay area. They can be testing at times, and of course, tidal.
With first language Welsh speakers among its membership the club can accommodate beginners and those with disabilities.
The club meets on Wednesday evenings (generally 17:30 for 18:00 on the water) at the The Quay Centre, Coracle Way, Carmarthen, SA31 3LN, for paddling on the River Towy.
Occasional trips further afield are arranged dependent on the prevailing tidal and weather conditions for sea surf or rivers. The membership are kept informed of the weeks venue via email and Facebook updates if not at the Quay Centre.
Members are interested in kayaking (river, sea and whitewater) and canoeing with some polo, freestyle, surf and marathon racing enthusiasts and general recreation.
